I played the Templar ending once just to see what it was like and felt dirty. Mage life all the way.
Also, I think Merrill comes out the winner of that argument because a)she manages to make her points without insulting Anders' culture and b)SHE DIDN'T BLOW UP A CHANTRY DAMMIT ANDERS. (She occasionally gets her village slaughtered, but in these games that practically makes you an innocent.)
